just an update. thanks so much for all your well wishes. my hand is doing well. i can already use it a bit, much sooner than i expected. and have reopened my store. much relief! any order that comes in will be taken care of within my normal order time. thanks again everyone.

p.s. just adding this, i thought maybe i should mention the details. just ‘cuz i dunno, it’s a handmade blog? but what happened was that i was sitting down at my work area, the cutting area for fabric, which is on my floor. and braced myself with my hand. there was a pin sticking straight up between 2 floorboards. and it went right into my hand. it’s a complete freak accident. and the pin broke when it hit bone. they didn’t know at first how bad it was and thought it had damaged a tendon. one of my fingers wasn’t fully bending and i couldn’t do much of anything with my hand. but it was actually that the tendon was pinned to my bone. ew. it took 3 days and 2 tries. the 2nd try was an actual operation, but they pulled it out. it was 2 cm long. ew. i was so doped up i kept making jokes about the plastic surgeon’s hat [it had chili peppers on it] and said “awesome” in full surf accent when they pulled it out of the bone with a “kerchunk” feeling. i just thought everything was funny at this point. wow. then i had a weird reaction to the freezing, and that’s a scary part and don’t even want to talk about that. but all is well. i’m like overjoyed actually. i have a hand! and a new respect for pins. i will try and get a photo of the x-rays. they are kind of beautiful i think. they gave me the chunk of pin too.
